Like I said, it was UMNO who first politicized this issue.

BTN, oh my, part 2 8 December 2009

Just so that no one misses this fascinating string of news centring on the BTN, I’m here to provide you with short and succinct updates!

First, Dr Mahathir, the target of Mr. Nazri’s attacks, responded by challenging the latter to quit what he calls a ‘racist party’.

Then, the Mr. Muhyiddin goes to the Tun’s side and said that it’s ‘extreme’ for Nazri to say what he said. He reiterates that BTN is good and wholesome.

Out of nowhere, former Penang chief minister (and now unity minister) Dr Koh Tsu Koon backs Mr Nazri and says BTN must be revamped. I’m surprised that the good Dr had the fortitude to say something that might ‘rock the boat’. He has a history of being ’super safe’, in my opinion.

Then Mr. Nazri retorts by saying that the Tun’s remarks are ‘most stupid’.

And with all that happening, Ahmad ‘Pendatang’ Ismail got his 3 year suspension lifted 2 years early!

Ah, Malaysia. Not a day passes without something or another happening. Popcorns, anyone?

Apabila Najib dan Anwar minum teh 5 December 2009

Beberapa minggu lepas, negara sedikit ‘gempar’ apabila dilaporkan bahawa Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan Ketua Pembangkang Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim telah dilihat duduk bersama-sama di Parlimen.

Photo taken from the Malaysian Insider

Read this opinion piece.

With all due respect to the writer, I think this he completely misses the point of the High Court ruling. He uses an erroneous example of a snatch thief being caught at night, yet he does not make the distinction between witnesses  and suspects. It seems quite clear that the ruling relates to witnesses.

BTN, oh my! 1 December 2009

This is good!

On 30 November 2009, Mr. Nazri Aziz said that Cabinet has agreed to ‘revamp’ the Biro Tatanegara (BTN).

But, on the very same day, our ‘beloved’ DPM continued to defend the programme and challenged Mr. Lim Kit Siang to prove it’s racist.

Then, Mr. Ahmad Maslan, BTN chief and UMNO information minister (is there a correlation here?) on 01 December 2009 came out and said that it’s an ‘upgrade’ not a ‘revamp’.

Understanding our rights 15 November 2009

Taken from the Nut Graph:

Understanding our rights

by Deborah Loh

PERAK. Party-hopping. Frogs. Who by now doesn’t know about the Perak constitutional crisis. Awareness has also been stirred about the right to freedom of association and the rights of voters to choose based on a candidate’s party.

Federal-state relations are receiving prominence now that the opposition controls at least four states. Federal funding for these states is an issue, and so is competition between state authority and federal interests as seen in the restructuring of Selangor’s water industry.

Mengorak langkah memartabatkan Perlembagaan 15 November 2009

The Lingam charade ends at judiciary’s expense 29 October 2009

by Daniel Albert

The refusal by the Attorney-General’s Chambers to take any further action or proffer charges against any of the six named individuals involved in the Lingam video clip fiasco has received scathing criticism from the public – and rightly so.

This pre-mature attempt to close official investigations into this matter is an affront to the judiciary and a slap in the face to us all.
